This module will provide you with the basic skills, knowledge and information to safely operate a Backhoe Loader. Participants will be trained and assessed in the following:

  • Driving and operating a Backhoe safely

  • Planning and preparing

  • Conducting machine pre-operational checks

  • Operating backhoe/ loaders

  • Lifting, carrying and placing materials

  • Selecting, removing and fitting attachments

  • Carrying out machine operator maintenance

  • Cleaning up

  • Start-up, park and shutdown procedures

Grader Training

This module will provide you with the basic skills, knowledge and information to safely operate a Grader.

Participants will be assessed on the following:

  • Operating a Grader safely

  • Set Correct Position and blade height

  • Spread heaps and level material

  • Maintain level floor and spillage clean up

  • Build safety windrow

  • Grader position on ramps

  • Use wheel lean appropriately

  • Cut and fill as required

  • Use basic cuts to form roads
